Welcome home Degmeister.

My 13 year old is on the skinny side (NOT his mother's gene's) and I think as he's getting older he's starting to feel a little anxious about it. I didn't think it bothered him that much until today.

He went to get a smoothie at a local smoothie making store and got something called 'The Hulk'. He tells me what's in it, vanilla ice cream, some nut something or other and a weight gain protein powder.

Not five minutes after he tells me what's in the smoothie he turns to me and with a very serious face says...

"Mom? How long does it take for the weight gain stuff to start working?"

It nearly broke my heart to explain that it doesn't work quite like that. But after much talk about how he could gain weight the right way he decided to come work out with me tomorrow.

Man I'm glad he's home.

Aww that is so cute, I am glad you educated him on the right way to gain weight (man what a problem to have). I am glad he is home for you!

Jason, as himself said...

That was me. In ninth grade I went on a 5 meal a day, 4,000 a day diet. And I didn't gain an ounce. Then. The day I got married at age 21, I weighed 117 pounds. Still soooo skinny.

But now? At age 39? I'm loving that I weigh 135 and all the big jocks from high school weigh 335.

Maybe you could find a way to pass that on to your guy...

The sprog has the same problem. I apologize to him all the time, but he comes by it naturally (my father was so sickly skinny they gave him BEER to fatten him up, way to go!) and there isn't a whole lot he can do about it.

Poor kid. =( I'd gladly change places with him if I could....

On another note, the first thought that came to mind when reading your post was Cartman yelling "BEEFCAKE!! BEEFCAKE!!

Aww, I understand where he's coming from. I was teased for being so skinny all throughout school, but now, like Jason said, I'm the size all of those people who teased me wish they could be. My mom and aunt were the same way growing up and my grandmother used to make them eat huge peanut butter sandwiches to try to put some meat on their bones.
