Tonight is Earth Hour. Go read about it and then turn your lights off from 8pm till 9pm tonight.
Hopefully that little bit of time in the darkness will make a large impact. Let's hope so.

Since I have so much time on my hands, I've been using my brain.
I'm recovering nicely from my surgery yesterday. It's painful, but Vicodin works wonders.
So I've been sitting around thinking about future home projects. Things like installing hardwood floors and rearranging photos on the walls. And one thing I'd like to start is a small compost. I'd like a place to compost all the scraps from left over foods and peeling from fruits and veggies. Having a free fertilizer would be great.
I've started to do some research, but I was wondering if anyone around these parts has any advice, tips, or any websites they can direct me to.
Advance thank yous to who can help me.
Peace, love and composting!

Happenings and such
This past Saturday I joined 25 women at a local Olive Garden restaurant to celebrate. The manager asked if we were celebrating anything special and I told him that we were celebrating women. We were celebrating each other.
About a month ago an old friend that I've known since 6th grade contacted me and told me she wanted to host a dinner. It was simple. Bring yourself and a friend, if you wanted to, and get to know other women. The idea was to get away for a few hours, drink some, eat some and build a bond of girlfriends. I had no idea that 25 women would show up. But it was lovely, loud and a total blast.
I met a few new people and chatted with a few people I already knew. And I left the dinner with the excitement of doing this again once a month.
What a great idea! Women talking about children, work, family, hobbies and whatever else happened to come up.
I'm contemplating starting something similar after tax season is over. I think it's an awesome way to get away for a bit and meet new people. Just what a busy working momma needs.
Have you ever participated in a dinner club or anything similar? Details, please!

Thank you all for your sweet comments about this cyst business. I'll be good as new in no time.

In other news, I've lost a grand total of 25.5 pounds as of this past Tuesday. I have about 15 pounds to go till I reach my pre pregnancy weight and about 25 pounds to get to my ultimate goal weight.
I went shopping today and bought new clothes 4 sizes smaller than what I wore when I first started this diet. I was in desperate need of black slacks and a few work appropriate shirts. As a reward for my hard work I also got a few pairs of earrings, 2 new pairs of sunglasses and the most adorable handbag.
I'm super excited to drop one more clothing size because then I can shop in my own closet, for FREE! My clothes are hanging there, patiently waiting for me to put them to use again.
I'm so proud of myself and I fully intend on keeping it up.

Less than 30 days left of tax season aka tax hell. Surgery will knock off a few work days this week, but I'll be back a week from tomorrow at full speed. I only hope my body cooperates with me and my work schedule.

I'm like the Terminator.
So I have a cyst. I just wrote about it. It's sucky and it hurts. And it's being evicted from my body next week.
Surgery during tax season is bad with a capital 'b'. I don't have time for this crap.
But on the plus side, I get to say that I have a (non cancerous) tumor. But I say it like Arnold Swartzhoweveryouspellit. Ya know, The Terminator.
So I have a tuma and it's being a bitch.

Ouch!
Hi guys! Long time no write or read. Work is kicking my ass. I'll be back soon, I promise!
I looked at my Google Reader yesterday for the first time in weeks and did you know that once the amount of blogs unread reach more than 1,000 that it stops counting them? All it says is 1,000+. Which is SCARY. What the hell are you people writing about?
In other news, I have an ovarian cyst. It's having a party down in my lower half and it's pissing me off. In the last 2 days I've resorting to walking like a little old lady because it hurts so bad and I can't sleep worth shit. I go back today to see if the thing is getting larger and growing it's own cyst babies or not. Boo for lady parts, they suck sometimes.
Hope everyone is well and writing lots of fun stuff for me to read after April 15th. Back to work I go. Blah!

Just call me Hant.
I'm a Hant! It's a half aunt. See, I have no 100% whole brothers or sisters, but I do have 2 half brothers and 2 half sisters. So that makes me a Hant when one of them has a kid, rather than an Aunt. Clever, huh? I thought so too.

So I'm now cool Hant Kristie! And I'm a Hant to a little man named Chase. Chase was born really really early and weighed only 2.5lbs. Other than being a tiny wee one, he's doing well. Wanna see his picture? Of course you do. Here he is in all his tiny baby glory...

I blurred part of the photo because his wee parts are all hanging out like he's tough litte guy. Which he is. Tough as nails, that one.
Unfortunetly he doesn't live here in Texas (even though I think that would wonderful), so I'm going to visit him and his momma. I leave for St. Louis tomorrow afternoon and I'll be there until Sunday evening.
I can't even tell you what a pain it was to redo my work schedule and all my appointments that I have for those days I'll be gone. But I just know it will be worth it. Even though I won't get to hold Chase, I'll get to see him in person. And THAT is really exciting.

Something bigger than ourselves.
Tonight, Derick and I watched the lunar eclipse. We sat on the driveway with the moon in clear view. It was really awesome to see the moon fade in the bright white color and darken to a deep brownish red color.
We set up Derick's telescope and scanned the skies for Saturn because we heard you might be able to see Saturn's rings if you had a telescope.
Let me tell you the elation I felt when I saw Saturn and the rings. It was nothing short of a utter euphoria. I actually felt tears come to my eyes. That's how amazing it was.
I've seen a million pictures in school earth science books and probably images on tv, but this. This was different. I saw Saturn! And Saturn's rings!
Derick and I were like little kids who had just discovered peanut butter and sugar sandwiches. We were giddy and talking in loud pronounced voices. We changed out the telescope lens to see if we could get a closer look. We called people and told them what we were actually seeing with our own eyes.
It was simply amazing. It was even more amazing to realize that we are such a small part of our universe.
If you didn't get a chance to see Saturn's ring, you can again in 2010. I highly recommend it. Derick and I have a date for the year 2010. Hopefully we will both be just as amazed as we were tonight.
